wireless keyboard and mouse set - recommendations?
Hi all,
Hoping some of you may have some experience or knowledge to advise me on this one... I'm looking for a good keyboard/mouse combo which is wireless with a range of between 2 and 4 metres at least. I like the idea of ones where they recharge via USB or something (save on batteries) but it's not essential to have that feature... Basically, my desktop PC has now moved from my bedroom upstairs into the living room. The plan is to have it behind the TV and output it to the TV (at present it'd be coax but I'm planning to get a LCD TV with VGA input) The other benefit is the router is there as well (wifi) and I can plug the PC directly into it for the best speeds. I want to be able to sit on the settee about 2-3 metres away from the TV unit and use a keyboard and mouse and use the TV as the monitor. I know you can get a choice of infrared, RF or bluetooth as wireless... With regards to potential interference I have the TV itself, the router and next to the settee a cordless phone....(also a video sender which has 4 channels to choose from that is on top of the TV to send to the room upstairs). The PC has a bluetooth USB adaptor as well (to communicate with my phone) Any good suggestions anyone? |

You could go for the ebuyer Extra Value Black Slim Office Wireless Keyboard & Rechargeable Optical Mouse or the Microsoft Wireless Black Optical Desktop 1000 - USB
I prefer a named brand keyboard & mouse but that's personal preference. |
Re: wireless keyboard and mouse set - recommendations?
Cool cheers. Just been reading the reviews. Definitely looks good for the money although people don't seem too keen on the keyboard. I think I could still be ok as I tend to use the mouse more than the keyboard I think. If I was to use it for gaming on broadband I think the mouse sensitivity and reliability is a greater need.
The range would be a little too short though: -keyboard 1.8meter, mouse 1.2mter operation range |
Re: wireless keyboard and mouse set - recommendations?
I have jsut ordered 4 of the microsoft ones for work & have used a microsoft one at home for years, the batteries last for months (6 according to MS).
I can't find details of the range on the MS desktop 1000 though but my desktop elite worked fine over about 3-4m |
Re: wireless keyboard and mouse set - recommendations?
Having a look out now for the Microsoft desktop sets - agreed with the branding aspect...what could be more compatible with Windows....
Being cautious looking on ebay as I noticed many keyboards on there are german or US ones and it only mentions it as a small line at the bottom of descriptions... |

I know what you mean about the language versions! The MS one is only about £20 from ebuyer though

You need to buy the remote as the keyboard doesnt come with the sensor for some reason but the keyboard has a mouse built in so it will do everything the OP wanted, plus it deffinatley has the range. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Microsoft-Medi...QQcmdZViewItem |
Re: wireless keyboard and mouse set - recommendations?
I've got one of these myself connected upto my MCE system:
http://www.xsreviews.co.uk/reviews-115.html If you can get used to the laptop 'style', you'll find it's far superior to the MS offerings. Well it is for me as it works via kvm switch with my mac-mini, and of course unlike the MS keyboads isn't I\R which requires line of sight but YMMV of course. HTH |

Re: wireless keyboard and mouse set - recommendations?
Ive used Microsoft Keyboards and Mice for years and tried most other makes. I have to say the Microsoft range is second to none and I believe the best on the market today. The batteries in my laser mouse have not had to be changed for nearly 7 months! and its still going strong.
Go Microsoft, you will not be disapointed. :tu: |

Well if you ask me, I am currently working at http://digikun.com and we have a cool sporty 2.4GHz Nano wireless Mouse, you can drift throughout the net in style.
