Connecting PS3 through STB
Has anyone here connected a PlayStation 3 through their STB
A friend of mine is having problems connecting his PS3 through the STB. He's getting DNS errors. But even if the DNS servers are listed manually it calls the same error. The PS3 gets an IP but fails on DNS if using automatic settings. Any help much appreciated. :) |
Re: Connecting PS3 through STB
I assume he has tried rebooting the STB?
Does he not have a wireless router? Does he not have a SACM? |
Re: Connecting PS3 through STB
If he is connecting it directly he needs to copy the MAC address of the PC it is normally connected to onto the PS3 or it won't get an IP

Re: Connecting PS3 through STB
Thanks for the replies, he has power cycled the STB before connecting the PS3 to it. Perhaps it's the old MAC address issue.
You can't actually manually enter the mac address into any of the PS3 network settings. But maybe you need to register your PS3 mac with VM?... Thanks again, something to think about. |
Re: Connecting PS3 through STB
You can't clone a MAC address onto the PS3?
Even the original Xbox let you do that ;) If it's not possible to clone the PC's MAC onto the PS3, then he'll need to register the PS3's MAC with VM... Make sure the IP & DNS settings on the PS3 are set to auto... don't manually assign any to it. Does the PS3 have a web browser? If so, have a try of this: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/robin.d...r.html#pacereg |
