Thinking about going ADSL.
 

I have been with NTL or Years and basically way back in the history of time, I removed all NTL Services (as they were Pants) and only Kept Broadband. This means I already have a BT Line. Like many on here, I personally felt that £25 for 4mbit and £35 for 10mbit was a bit expensive compared to most of the ADSL lines out there, for Example TalkTalk.

Looking into this, its basically £20.99 a Month which means I will save £11.50 (or whatever BT is now), Get Free Calls (unlimited) along with *upto 8Mbit Broadband (it would probably come in at about 5.5 or there about judging from the checkers). My point here is why would it be a good idea to keep paying:

£25 a Month for 4mbit +
£11.50 for Telephone line (BT)

When I can seem to get more for less from someone else?

What is the views of TalkTalk of the people who have it or tried it in the past? I know it only has a 40meg Cap but to be perfectly honest I do not download 24/7 - so thats fine with me anyhow.

Will as I suspect Retentions offer me yet another 3 lame 3 months deal to try and keep me or has htis all changed now and they just cut you off? Before I get on the phone Tommorow as well, what is "Upcoming" for example? Will they soon do 10mbit for £25 a month? etc etc

I have 4 friends who recently swapped over to Talk Talk - spread across Liverpool. The general consensus is not good. Their CS leaves a lot to be desired and if you can actually get both your phone line and broadband working together - you're one of a lucky few.

One of my friends has tried to get out of the contract and has taken advice from CAB, OFCOM/OFTEL (not sure which) and has been advised to go down the official route of complaining and trying to get her issues sorted, otherwise talk talk can demand a 'get out' fee. I'm sorry its not very positive, but i'm sure their experience has saved me a whole lot of stress. Try virgin adsl, i can't really fault it so far. I get evening and weekend landline calls for free and 'up to' 8 meg for £14.99 in addition to BT line rental (£11 i think). For the sake of a fiver and your sanity, i know what i'd do.

My advice is that if you live in a cabled area you should get cable for broadband. :)

I've heard lots of horror stories about Talk Talk...


Personally, if I were still in a cabled area, I'd have stuck with cable broadband, rather than go for ADSL.
