Strange phone call.
 

My phone has just rung, I have two and this one is ex directory. It was a recorded message. It went something like, " Hello, this is Ntl, we have a message for you, just call 0871******** ", then the line went dead. I did not have a pen & paper handy so missed the rest of the number. Anyone have any idea what this could be about.:confused:

Not much I'd guess, as NTL doesn't exist?

Dialled 1471, full number is 0871 572 0013, dialled it from a different phone and it seems I will be able to claim between £900 & £1000 just by listening to a few short details.:rolleyes: The phone went back down rapido.:mad:

So if you get a similar message, ignore it.:)

Can anyone trace that number?

Hi,
I had a similar call last week and I am ex directory as well, I just ignored it.
I have not checked but I assume the number is a premium rate !

Cheers for that N. Thankfully I have never been overdrawn so I don't incur the more onerous bank charges. The standing ones are bad enough, If I am not mistaken isn't an 08715 number a premium rate number?

Hi Jim

0871 is not charged like the 09 numbers at 50p + per minute, I think you would have paid about 10p per minute plus connection fee

i keep getting a silent call from 08701240200 when i dial 1471 there is a message well half a message that i cannot understand then i ring 1471 again and the standard message comes on?? its got to be a scam!
