Getting access to V+ via Network Port
1. I tryed connecting a crossover network lead to a PC and the V+ STB, thinking i would be like networking 2 PC's. But no network was found.:(
2. Changed the Crossover lead to a normal patch lead and got a limited connection. 3. Say the IP address on the V+ box was 10.11.12.13 i set the IP address on the PC to 10.11.12.14 and i got a full conection.:) This is the trouble. I have a conection but no access, Dose anyone know a way to comunacate with the STB.  Thanks;) ;) ;) |
Re: Getting access to V+ via Network Port
Erm
Nope The Ethernet connection is for the STB's built-in Cable Modem which isn't used anyway |
Re: Getting access to V+ via Network Port
Posted in a similar thread, only ports I found open were 110 and 65534. If you http to xx.xx.xx.xx:65534 it then displays a page with 'What?' on. Also after trying that port, before being able to scan for any more open ports, I had to reset the box, otherwise it told me all ports were closed.
HTH PS BTW tried http(s), ftp, telnet etc only response I can raise is the 'What' no matter what protocol I use. Was hoping to be able to spin off hdd content. Reading elsewhere, in the US, these boxes have to have a firewire port for this purpose. |
Re: Getting access to V+ via Network Port
The only thing youre connecting to when you plug in that Ethernet Cable is the Cable Box's built in Cable Modem which they aren't really using any more, it's a separate circuit entirely from the Cable TV Decoder hardware

Re: Getting access to V+ via Network Port
Thought the USB may have been used for setup. Linked to PC in similar way to mobile phone etc. Looking out for a resonable eSATA enclosure/cable. Any luck I'll let you know :)
