Netgear WGR614 v6 TW

Hi

Remember the free router that Telewest gave away ?

Well if you can im just wondering if there is any firmware upgrades available for it and if so where would i get them from ??

The reason behind this is that I have this particular router that Telewest gave me (see title) and i am getting strange speed test results when using it. Whenever I run a speedtest without using the router I max out at around 20 meg, but when I use my connection through the router I can never get above 10 meg ! ?

A firmware upgrade may not be required to fix this problem, but through lack of knowledge of any other reason why this would be happening, I thought id give
it a shot

Any help would be appreciated on the router firmware or why I would be seeing the speed differences.

Thanks

Stu

I recently replaced one of these routers due to poor throughput performance and high pings with online gaming (running the latest firmware). Replaced with DLink DGL4300 which has solved most of these issues.

Thanks for your reply,

I am getting the high ping issue too on my 360, and throughput performance does seem to be because of the router, I may try to find an upgrade for the firmware to see if this fixes things. If not I will probably have to buy a new one.

No wonder it was free LOL ;)

If you're looking for a router suitable for connection intensive work such as P2P I think this article may be useful:
