Shoudl I get V+?

Help  - I can't make my mind up whether or not to get the V+ box.

I really don't need a second box but don't want to pay £75 for installation (I'm not sure that I understand why moving the original box costs nothing even though extra cabling will usually be needed but replacing an existing box costs £75???).

If I go for it can I just keep the second box in the same place (at £5 per month on XL TV) then get rid of it after a while or do I have to keep the second box for 12 months?

Will I see a worthwhile picture improvement with the (admittedly limited) HD on my 720p/1080i projector which has to be connected via an adaptor through the Projector's PC In D connector, I think.

Is there a limit on the length of cable that can be run from the V+ to my projector and does the HD signal degrade over a short distance?

I wonder whether I should just go for it but any advice is welcomed :)

It's cheaper to get the second box for a year than pay the £75 install fee. (You have to keep the second box for 12 months.)

You might see an increase in quality as it upscales the picture. :)

If you don't need the second box, then ring and discuss options with CS (they are aware of the intensity of competition from Sky) and I'm certain you won't be charged the £75 removal fee.
The V+ is sure to improve the picture you have and has so many other virtues that it's worth the extra £10.
Tell CS you want it but will not pay the £75 charge - you'll get it !!

you only save like £10, so if you won't use the second box why bother keeping it.

It does seem odd to pay more for less (getting rid of original box) but I guess they rely on you getting used to having the second box then keeping it after the 12 month period so I can see the business reason. I really can't see the point of keeping the box though.

I think I'll give them a call and see what options are available but, at the same time, I don't want to go whinging about cost, pretending that I'm going to leave, when I'm happy with the service - so I won't! :)

Thanks for your advice everyone - I'll give 'em a call in the morning and see what happens.

Very tempting to get the box though...

just mention that you're interested in getting the V+ box, however the high installation fee is putting you off, & having a second box isn't an option.

I'm sure you'll get a deal, as they'll be getting more cash out of you for the V+ subs for 12 months

Re: Should I get V+?

Well, I've booked the installation and it's on 5 April. I've said I'll keep the second box in the same place and the total bill is only £11.25 more than before although I'm not sure if that includes caller ID otherwise it will be £13 more.

The CS guy said that I can cancel the second box when I want, despite me quoting from the VM website that it has to be retained for 12 months but we'll see.

4 weeks :Yikes: . Well, on the positive side, maybe some of the software niggles will have been resolved by then and I will always have the second box, I suppose!!

I'm in the Lincoln area: Just got mine, 1 week wait. Wow from the black Pace POS, this V+ is amazing! press a button and something happens. Not had that happen before.

VOD work, had to call CS to sort the PIN. but other than that minor problem, the V+ really is superb.

To anyone else thinking about getting a V+: Don't think about it. Get one. You wont be sorry.

£10 a month, well that wouldn't buy you much in todays money. so chill
