Virgin Media Call Centre Moved To Asia

It's been confirmed today that customer services will be moved to asia and the existing bellshill centre closed down.

At the moment we dont know if jobs will be lost.

Apparently they want to compete with sky's 24 hour customer service centres.

Re: Virgin Media Call Centre Moved To Asia

as far as im aware, if the UK call centers are too busy then the call is taken in india, and also that some broadband issues are dealt with in india....

India is a sub-continent and generally referred to as such.

You have confirmation of this news?

supprised virgin dont know that indian call centres suck, they are hated by the public, and most people owuld prefer them to be uk based.... If its to go 24/7 then just run split shifts.

Re: Virgin Media Call Centre Moved To Asia

I think most companies know that, but the massive cost savings offered by off-shoring this kind of work, if you've got a high enough call volume is too big an opportunity for some companies to pass over.

I have to say, I don't object to any off-shore call centre per se, only the ones that appear to have no knowledge of the product, no authority to get something done, no method of passing a problem back to someone who can sort it out and worst of all, one with very limited grasp of the English language.

I only ever got put through to India a few times with ntl, with BBTS, and they were guilty of the first four, but they spoke English beautifully and were very polite when telling me there was no problem with my boradband (which wasn't working).

On the other hand I have encountered people who are guilty of all of the above, but based in the UK.

Re: Virgin Media Call Centre Moved To Asia

Without any press releases or confirmation from Virgin Media or any employees I'm highly dubious of this claim.

If anyone has a link to a press release or inside info them let me know and I'll re-open the thread but until then Thread Closed

And Virgin Media are still recruiting customer service staff for this site via totaljobs and other sources so for now unless someone can prove otherwise I'd imagine Bellshill Customer Service remains open.
