Widescreen! I dont think so.

Is it me?

Is anyone else having trouble with the picture size on some channels?

Running my V+ box in RGB widescreen mode, through my widescreen 32" LCD TV (viewsonic). Standard channels (bbc1,2,3,4 ITV1,2,3,4 Ch4 + Ch5) are great, most other channels only show in 14:9 or simular small screen mode. When I chage the aspect ratio of my TV from auto to another size I end up with either stretched bodies, or missing heads.

I get the same reults when I drive my TV through HDMI on 720 or 1080.

Have tried all the settings on my V+ box.

Any ideas.

Re: Widescreen! I dont think so.

The only effect of the so-called "widescreen" setting is to stretch 4:3 material to 16:9. I cannot understand why anyone would wish deliberately to distort material like that, but that's all it does.

The non-widescreen setting sends 16:9 material as 16:9, and 4:3 material as 4:3 with black margins on the 16:9 display, which is fine by me.

You probably want the non-widescreen setting, and use your TV's features for any other scaling.

Note: some channels transmit widescreen material letterboxed on 4:3. With these channels, you will get black borders on all four sides on a 16:9 screen, unless your TV can zoom to fit.

Have you set your box to 720 WIDE or 1080 WIDE instead of 720 or 1080? It is easy to miss, just hit the left arrow a couple more time when selecting your picture type.
