Installing Internet connection with vista?

Hi Forgive me but I am a complete novice as I have only just received my laptop and it is the first computer i have owned
The problem is Virgin are coming out to me on Friday to install my broadband cable and I have heard from someone that the service will not work with windows vista? i. e the disks they use to install it are not compatible with vista?
Will the engineer connect me up as surely he will have heard of using vista on any new internet connection?
Any help would be much appreciated as obviously I dont want the service if i cant use it!!

:welcome: to the forums.

You don't need to use the install disc if you are connecting via Ethernet.

1. Turn everything off and connect the thernet cable from the modem to your laptop's ethernet / network port.

2. Turn on the modem, then wait for the lights to settle and then turn on your Laptop.

3. Open up your web browser and try to access a website.
It should redirect you directly to the NTL registration page.
