Remote clash!
Just had my samsung box moved upstairs, but the remote control clashes with the TV remote so both the TV and box react to key presses on the NTL remote. Is there anything I can do (bar the obvious "buy a new TV"!)

Re: Remote clash!
Hmmm
Never heard of that happen before. Is the TV and STB same brand? Maybe try calling Faults. :erm: |
Re: Remote clash!
A long time ago I used to sell HiFi and TV / Video and some TV and video manufaturers used to be aware of this and allow switching to a second IR code set. It would be worth looking through the TV book and see if they include such a possibility and also investigate this angle for the set top box (probably in engineering menus).
If that fails I'm stuck for ideas except for putting up without one remote and covering up the receiever on one device. A |
Re: Remote clash!
The TV is Hinari and the NTL box is Samsung.
At the moment I put a piece of card in front of the IR on the TV! |

Have you tried calling CS and ask for an engineer to have a look? Or maybe ask for a new VM remote to be sent? |
Re: Remote clash!
But... but.... aren't normal cable boxes IRDA as opposed to RC5? That's really quite amazing...
I'm stumped. <edit>Apparently Samsung's are RC5 now as well - thank god someone saw the light. |
Re: Remote clash!
That happens with my samsung box and my panasonic tv.

Re: Remote clash!
Only other option I can think of is to raise the conflict with Virgin and get them to install a different box such as a Pace model with Irda. However, downside is you are going backwards with the age of the box and I had heeps of problems with them not running the interactive / on demand services. Perhaps there is another option that the standard Samsung....
