laptop security
Hi all.
Just gone wireless and purchased a Dynamode 802.11g Router. As you can probably guess, I'm not that tech minded so excuse me if i sound basic on this question. i called the £1.00 a minute help line through Blueyonder / Virgin and sort of got set up. I do however have two questions that i would appreciate help with. No1. how do i secure my laptop (enable), do i need any special Wep key codes and how do i get them. No2. at the moment my computer has a Webstar modem with the cable line running into it, the power cable, the cable that came with the router and the ethernet cable, although that does not sound like the configuration according to the instructions. in the router i have power, cable from the modem, is this correct. sorry its all a bit long winded but please, please, anyone.....HELP ME. much appreciated. steve (desperate) |
Re: laptop security
If WEP is available to use then you set it via your router (make a key up or use a pre-set) and then you input the same key in the settings on your wireless on the laptop.
You should have a cable feeding your modem (and a power cable to it too) an ethernet cable then goes from the modem to the WAN port on the router (which will also have a power lead). |
