How do I switch wireless off on Belkin Router
Hi, I wonder if someone can advise me on how to turn off the wi-fi off on a Belkin Wireless G Router (F5D7230uk4)?
I am buying the homeplug adapters that use the power line and want to connect 2 or 3 PCs using the homeplug adapters and ethernet cables. I was going to buy a wired router but on searching the internet and this forum etc., and have read the advice on using the existing wireless router with the wireless "switched off" - but I don't know how to switch it off. I have read the manual and can't find any hints on how to do this! For reasons I won't explain here, I am trying to get rid of interference from wi-fi, dect phones etc. Hope someone can advise me! |

Re: How do I switch wireless off on Belkin Router
thanks for your reply.
If I just turn it off, will the ethernet cable from the router to PC and homeplug still function without mains connection? Iv'e never used ethernet before so don't really understand how it works! |
Re: How do I switch wireless off on Belkin Router
Even if the wireless is on the wired ports will continue to work, if you turn the mains off then there is effectively no router there so the network will not work.
Have you tried just changing the channel your Belkin is using if it is interfering? |
Re: How do I switch wireless off on Belkin Router
heyup,
if you go to the http://192.168.2.1 page, there select Wireless and the option Channel and SSID. You should have Wireless Mode there and from there you can switch the wlan side off :) |

EDIT: Actually just found it on mine, in the page DocDutch mentions above, change Wireless Mode from 54g or whatever it's on to "OFF" |

Paul Regarding the interference - there isn't any problem with the wi-fi itself - I am having some medical problems as to no sleep etc, and it has been suggested that I get rid wi-fi, dect phones, energy light bulbs and mobile phone! So have to give it a try! Thanks to you all for your help.:) |
