watching cable tv in another room.
 

At the moment i am with sky, but i would like to move over to cable tv, i have ntl broadband, with sky i have a seperate remote for another room which i can use to change channels and turn on and off,if i make the switch does cable tv have a similar setup if you want it? thanks for any advice.

I presume you only have the one Sky Set Top Box (STB) and the output from that is sent to the other room, either via an coaxial or perhaps some form of video sender unit. Your remote controller also operates the STB via some sort of wireless.

If I'm correct that that is how you do it, then yes you can create a similar setup for the cable based STB. However it does depend on the STB itself what type of digisender or digieye you need. Some of STBs used a less standard IrDA remote signalling method, whilst many use the more standard IR or RC5 signals.

As stated above the altentaive is to have two STBs, perhaps the V+ STB in your living room, with a standard V box in the second room. The second STB adds £5.00 a month to your TV costs if you are on the upper TV packages.

thanks for replies, when i had the sky analogue tv i ran a cable to the bedroom, only snag the channel had to be changed manually, ie knock on the floor, when i got sky digital the existing cables could be used,also for a charge (about £12) the engineer fitted a small piece of kit called sky-link to the end of my own cable on the upstairs tv, and a second remote control is used to operate sky from it, so i will have a look at the virgin site, thanks again.
