It is possible, there are a couple of very good guides on the Internet, it involves opening the router up and shorting 2 of the pins, then flashing the firmware over TFTP.

I bricked by WRT54GL twice in the same day, and managed to revive it using that guide. It's now running strong.

Just found the guide too, here:

I was flashing it with the DRT firmware and I got up to Step 8 and the ethernet is having problems connecting it to the computer. :erm: Like it says unable to connect. The means I can't do the final stage of the upgrade?

By DRT I assume you mean DD-WRT?

Did you do it correctly, as in flash the micro version before the standard version? I made the mistake of not doing that, TWICE, which is why I've learnt to read the manual now :)

Ah, there was some thing about the WRT's not allowing firmware over 2MB to be flashed, therefore you have to flash the micro version of DD-WRT and then from there you can flash the standard version.

Can't you just put the old firmware back on? From the below link you should be able to work out what your linksys is capable of installing from your S/N prefix.

Did you try this reset procedure, which fixed a similar problem?
