tech question for new customer

Hi all,

Thinking of getting virgin tv service and entering the digital world and all its wonders.

problem is i hate cables running over the place. My virgin cables (i have broadband already) are just by my front door. on the outside wall of my front room.
my TV is in the far end of my front room. If i have virgin tv installed a chap will come along drill a hole poke a cable through put a wall box on other side of wall and then i will have to connect the digital box to my tv, i have a door way lots of carpet and a sofa or 2 in the way also i have no wish to run cables over my doorframe or below my carpet or along the skirting.

so im looking for some wonderful wireless option :)

any ideas chaps.

Thanks in advance :)

the digital box you cant do wireless unfortunatly so thats going to have to be a wire along the skirting boards ;) or underneath the carpet.

I love wires. my front room looks like it has the wiring loom of a Boeing 747.

Could you not relocate the original cable outside first so at least reduce the distance it needs to travel indoors?

Maybe if you ask nicely the cable man could leave you plenty of extra cable and you could figure out the best way to hide it later when he's gone.

Another option is get the special plastic trunking stuff that looks like skirting board and hide the cable inside that.

Is there any way the cable could be routed around the outside of the building.

If the TV is adjacent to an external wall this would then remove the need for cables inside.

The only other option woould be to have cables laid under the floor, however VM would then probably not warranty the works done.

I have relaid all my cables, perks of having once done it as a job!

You could use a wireless TV sender

Engineers agreed where to put the cables and boxes inside the house with me when I had the installation.
They will not run the cables over the roof, but round the house.

I have two STB's one in the lounge which was the original install, the second 18 months later is in a bedroom at the back of the bungalow, they ran a cable right round the outside of the property and through the wall adjacent to the position of the box.
