Bt Home Hub And Vnc Problems
Hiya gang,
Wonder if anyone can assist. My father has recently got into the world of PC's and although he is getting to grips with things slowly but surely he still struggles. So about a month ago i set up REAL VNC on his and my pc so rather than taking a 10 mile round trip everytime he gets stuck i take control and show/correct the problems he has had. Anyway, last week he decided to upgrade his BT option to the homehub. yesterday he had a prob and i tried to connect using VNC but i cannot communicate at all with his machine. Any idea's as to what i need to do to get the VNC to connect and fix his problems remotly. P.s - Also tried MSN's remote assistance but again same prob. Pps - Im on NTL he is on BT Thanks xxxxx |
Re: Bt Home Hub And Vnc Problems
the router is probably blocking the ports needed to make a connection, you will need to open them up on the router

Re: Bt Home Hub And Vnc Problems
Hi folks,
read through all the messages and even trawled through posts on here. Still hit a big brick wall. Have read a few posts on port forwarding as this must be where the problem is but cannot find anything that relates to port forwarding on a BT Homehub. Would be eternally greatful for any further tips or help guides. thx |
Re: Bt Home Hub And Vnc Problems
I have precisely the same scenario (mine is 40 miles distant!)
See: http://www.frequencycast.co.uk/homehub.html http://www.frequencycast.co.uk/homehub.html - although I noticed when completing this guidance that the Homehub already appears to have a pre-defined forwarding def for 'VNC' - one just needs to apply it and then add the specific device (ie. your Dad's pc) that needs to be forwarded the ports... Cheers, Aitch |
