Free voicemail not available...why?

I have been told by customer services that I have to pay for 1571 voicemail as the free voicemail service is not available in my area...Colchester, Essex. Can anyone tell me why or is this just an excuse to get more money out of me?

I took the VIP package & cancelled my existing voicemail as it stated free voicemail. Now i have no voicemail.
Is it correct as stated above that it is unavailable in some areas?

Looking at the VIP package being advertised now there is no mention of free voicemail.

Anybody got this free voicemail & how does it differ from the paid one?

Can't see any reference to it at all on the Virgin site...help please!
