ntl: Select Pack Question?

What is the new name for the Select TV Pack?

I'm asking because back on October we subscribed to the 2 for £20 package of 2MB internet + Select TV Pack. According to the ntl: website, the TV + BB pack at £20/month is now Broadband size M + TV Size L.

So, is "L" the new name for the select Pack? coz according this post, i don't seem to be getting some channels on the "L" package (last checked today at 4pm).
Channels which are on the "L" package which we don't have are:
  • Discover Channel +1 (i'm getting normal Discover Channel instead)
  • Animal Planet
  • Discovery Home & Health
  • God Channel
  • Film4 + 1 (this was on Starter Pack, but now, since today says i'm unsubscribed).

According to the ntl: website, if i'm on the L package, i should also get:
  • Bloomberg
  • Boomerang
  • British Eurosport
  • Cartoon Network
  • Challenge +1
  • CNBC
  • Discovery Channel (which as mentioned above i am getting)
  • Discovery Travel & Living
  • Eurosport 2
  • LivingTV 2
  • MTV UK
  • Sci-Fi Channel
  • UKTV Documentary
  • UKTV Drama
  • UKTV Food
  • UKTV G2
  • UKTV People
  • UKTV Style
  • UKTV Style +1
  • UKTV Gardens
  • VH1
Another thing to note, i do (am still) getting the following channels, which according to the ntl: website are NOT on the M package, but only on L & XL.
  • E4+1
  • Hallmark
  • LivingTV
  • LivingTV+1
  • Men & Motors
  • Movies 24
  • Trouble
  • UKTV Style
  • UKTV Gold
As of today i'm also getting the following channels, which according to this post on DigitalSpy, are part of the L & XL pack
  • Bravo 2*
  • Trouble +1*
*although on the Guide & Favourites they are "greyed out" as if i'm unsubscribed to it, but the channel plays perfectly

Oh yeh, isn't Setanta Golf supposed to be part of the Setanta Sports Pack as of today? Because, it's still Free here.

VERY confused over the name changes, what am i now subscribed to? what channels should i get, what shouldn't i get? Can someone please clarify.

EDIT: From the naming of the pages on the ntl: website, it looks like TV Size M is the new name for the Select (the page at http://home.ntl.com/html/sorter/channels_select.html takes you to size M channel list). But yet on the 2 for £20 (BB + TV) Value Pack Terms & Conditions it says
Quote:

**New customers: installation will be charged at £25.00 for all online purchases
Existing customers: no charge except:
  • TV Size: M package – which must be taken with phone, a £25 installation fee applies

So if that is correct, i can't be on the M package, as this MUST be taken with ntl:phone, which as i mentioned above i don't have.

Thanks

Re: ntl: Select Pack Question?

a quick answer to your question is that the select pack no longer exists, it is only available to customers who are already on it but not to new customers which is why you will not find it mentioned on the website

the select pack has not been renamed and is not the M package, the M package used to be the free tv package which is maybe where the confusion is coming from and that is why u are also getting those extra channels you think u shudnt get and not getting the channels u think u may get

hope that makes sense as im quite tired right now

Yes, the 2 for £20 deal used to include the Select pack TV (now starter pack), which is no longer available

The 2 for £20 now includes the TV Size: L (used to be called base pack) and so is better value.

You will need to call CS as I do not believe you will be automatically migrated to the new 2 for £20 deal.

Thanks guys. I called to ask, but only realised after i'd hung up that i forgot to mention that on the website it says the 2 for £20 is the L TV package.

Do you think they'll allow you to migrate to the new 2 for £20 deal? I should hope so.

I suspect that there may well be a little confusion between now and the 14th February as a lot has changed.

However, it certainly does seem like you should have no problem migrating once Virgin officially launches.

...Why wait? The new packs are available now and you are on a obsolete poorer value pack. Phone up and get them to change it, or do yourself on their website.

Companies should not treat customers like this, but they do time and time again. Banks are the obvious example. They launch new accounts with better interest rates but don't migrate existing customers to the new accounts. I wish this practice was stopped.

I tried the website, but it looks like it hasnt been fully updated yet. Under the get a quote section it stil says ALL tv prices EXCLUDE ntl phoneline rental, which you MUST take (which is obviously not true if you look at the other pages). I continued at the Get A Quote section anyway, and indeed, it added a phone service. So, i guess it cant be done online (or am i doing it at the wrong place?)

I agree, i don't see why new customers always get the discounts, new packages, while the current ones don't automatically get it. I mean, we've been with ntl: for over three years now. I might just call them up on monday to try and get them to migrate me. What option should i choose when i call (via the 0845 454 0000 number)? The option about changing package?

I was on Select and rang last Friday; said I was on the "3 for 30" and would like the "Size L" Digital TV as advertised on the website. No problems. New channels were available by the time I'd gone back downstairs!

Re: ntl: Select Pack Question?

None of their special packs seem to include the L (4Mb) BB (which I'm already on, and if I use the site to try to get TV M (free) and BB L with telephone (even after clicking to say that I am presently on analogue) it gets to the last page and offers me what I want... but says that I am already on digiTV

With the present hoohah over Sky on VirginMedia, I think I'll wait a few days and see the reults....:dozey:
