Recording time start and finish

Guys, just wondering, if you record a programme dose it start a couple of minutes before the start and a few minutes after? Say a programme starts at 8.00pm will the recording start at 7.58pm and finish at 8.32pm, as you :dunce: know some channels start and finish programmes early. Thanks

It doesn't adjust the recording time automatically.

But there's an option in the V+Recordings >>> V+ Extras menu to extend your recordings. You can use this to add additional recording time before and after any recordings.

So dose that mean you can set a time in the system for say, two minutes at the start, five minutes at the end, and this will stay no matter what you record?:)

This is correct and when you set up the "padding" it will record 2 mins before the start and 5 mins at the end, however there are occasions that the "padding" is dropped to facilitate recordings that would otherwise cause a programme clash.

For example

20:30-21:00 BBC1
21:00-21:30 Sky One
21:00-22:00 Living TV

The recording of the BBC1 programme if it still had the padding would record until 21:05 thus preventing one of the programmes scheduled at 21:00 to be recorded, so the box cleverly drops the padding from the BBC1 programme so it will finish recording at 21:00 at which point the 2 scheduled programmes at 21:00 will start recording without the "padding".

You are ok if there is 2 programmes set to record at the same time with no other planned recording overlapping those times it will record the padding for both programmes
