Limit access
 

Could anyone help me out.
I have just set up a limited account for a child in Windows XP and want to stp them from accessing system files.
One thing I would like to disable is the Accessories: System Tools folder off the start menu.
I cant seem to find a way to do this and stop him playing around.

Anyone know any tips ?

TweakUI XP, has a few settings that will help. Make sure it's a standard user account and then go into the user name folder via an admin account and remove any shortcuts from the start menu structure that you don't want the user to have access to. Is it XP home? If so then you can use
control userpasswords2
from the run box to bring up a screen where you can nail the account down even further.

It's a bit roundabout, but I'd move the folder from the All Users start menu into the individual users' menus, except the one you don't want to give access to.

Thankyou. TweakUi helped me out and then I just made some of his icons hidden.
He doesnt know how to find them deep in windows but loves to click on anything on the start menu so at the moment I've just made them hidden files.

Just seen another thing to stop children.....
Sure, it won't stop teenagers but for small kid's that click everywhere, this will stop them acccessing things like Control Panel.
Right clicking on the start button and then properties and customising the start menu is a way of getting out of the way those areas that a child may access. eg. Control Panel, Network connections, etc.
