Ebay? Think you need to be using a better GFX board to run all the whistles and bells on Vista.

According to here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/w.../aa905075.aspx

You need pixel shaders 2.0 to run the "aero" interface. So some of the eye candy won't work.

I have a 9100 onboard in my Shuttle Box, the Vista Beta ran everything but the Aero Glass Theme. I chucked a old ATI 9550 AGP card in and it ran Aero quite happily.

So - for what reason do you need Aero - you being a student and all that?

Typical Vista purchaser!

Not worried about the new features....or improved security - it looks cool like a Mac I suppose...

Bill G has got 'em young this time!

Macs do not require over the top specs and resources to do the effects. Although, the new features seen those before :disturbd: isnt the new security model very unix like? seen that before :disturbd:

Maybe it is (almost) like a mac :D

Oh here we go again... we have another teen wanting Vista because of the new look...

Why not just use one of the myriad of WindowBlinds themes to tweak your XP, until Vista's been out a while.

It will be cheaper, you will have been able to upgrade your PC, and it will have less bugs.

I also want the Vista look, but without the bugged to hell transformation packs. I also want Flip3d, and volume per application control.

Also, we get it free. Education has it's bonuses, i have Business edition sitting here for when i get bored on the weekend or something ;)

I also want to dual-boot Linux, and possibly triple-boot Mac OSX 10.x. Doubt it will work as not one of the Linux distros i've used have supported my hardware (the chipset =( )
Maybe want to Quad-boot XP as well.

You do realise you can get the fancy look in XP, and i've not used a transformation pack.

I do want Vista (ultimate) but I'm waiting until I change the hardware as well as when the major bugs have been ironed out.

And I'm not a teen so i can wait ;) I've used the beta as well - in Virtual PC so with no damn sound!

I must say i wasn't impressed with the reliability of the RC2 build. Used it at a friends, clean install... Vista compatible apps just kept crashing left right and centre :(

Like i said, some rainy weekend ;)
But can you blame us for wanting prettiness when we use the machines alot? (You should send me a few details on how you got the nice look, currently using Royale Black style)

It is quite easy. Check PMs in a few mins.

Believe it or not but the major bugs have been ironed out and all gone prior to the release candidates, infact major ones would have been gone before the beta stage, leaving minor bugs in beta and tweaking to be done with the release candidates.

I can only but laugh if once again reviewers and so called experts say that the os should of been tested more (just like they did with xp, the most widely tested piece of software for its time, only superceedid by vista)
