NTL's Virgin takeover

Hi guys,

I've been using NTL as my ISP for 4+ years. I had their letter in the post saying that the 2 cable providers are merging with Virgin.net, an old provider from the late 90's. In fact, Virgin.net were my first provider! Do we need to do anything or will the service and bills carry on as normal?

Also a query about the medium £24.99 package: I've been paying that price for 4 years, but from around last October onwards, it dropped to approx £21.50. There is a deduction on the bill that says "2 for £20", the two items being the NTL cable modem £0.00 + cable service £24.99. Is that normal?

Thanks.

NTL has owned Virgin.net for some time anyway.

Everything will carryone as normal for now. The biggest difference will be the name change and your bills will look slightly different.

Just got the 'new' bill and it's a whole lot clearer to understand.

Actually I have no real gripes with the products, just with the managment of the company and the fact that when things go wrong no one wants to take responsibility to put situations right all due to poor managment.

To extend that metaphor, if the company supplying the Ford Escort makes sure the car is looked after and serviced regularly, and the garage staff are well-skilled and helpful, surely you will be happier with your "Ford Escort"?

Yes, many felt that was the case. I've heard that there have been regular upper management culls, so it looks like those nearer the top must prove their worth.

If that is happening, and it comes down the line, then it may be possible that Virginmedia will live up to its branding, and customer service not just improves, but sets new standards.

I think once they get a uniform billing system - finally - then there should be a seamless experience for us all.
