Bad Wireless Performance - It could be you?

After getting 'peed off with performance I ordered ADSL.
But things were so bad, it was only after ordering, I noticed
that my ping times to my router (WRT54G with 3rd party firmware) were between 10ms and 2000ms!!

For some reason my router only seems happy on Channel 11. (despite a site survey saying Channel 1 was noise free).

I suspect it may be my cordless phone causing problems.

Anyway after some jiggery pokery- router ping times back down to < 1ms.

Now, in my haste, I have ADSL for 3 month contract. But it would be nice to compare, and know what real speeds I can get, anyway. It may work out less cash for more speed.

Do you have any wireless telephones in the area? Is the router places near any electrical devices, or near any wireless computer equipment (mice or keyboards etc)?

I found that my Logitech G7 wireless mouse and my WRK54G were having a fight! All the time the router was sending data wirelessly, the mouse would move on the screen all over the place.

Also, dect phones were to blame for my problems and two of my friends' also. :]
