Re: ntldr missing
I think you're stuffed I'm afraid. If the NT Loader has gone missing it's a re-install. Mr. Zingle should be along presently with words of wisdom.
DW Bother, Zinglebarb is off-line at the moment. If it can be sorted he's you're man. |
Re: ntldr missing
Do you have your XP install disk?
If ntldr is the only thing missing you should be able to recover using the install disk (do a repair install). Edit - I'm assuming it's XP! |
Re: ntldr missing
Remove the non-system disk from your boot device. For example, remove the non-system disk from the floppy drive or the CD-ROM drive.
Change your computer's boot sequence. Make sure that your computer's first boot sequence is the CD-ROM Drive. 1.Insert the Windows XP CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive, and then restart the computer. Click to select any options that are required to start the computer from the CD-ROM drive if you are prompted. 2.When the "Welcome to Setup" screen appears, press R to start the Recovery Console. 3.If you have a dual-boot or multiple-boot computer, select the installation that you must access from the Recovery Console. 4.When you are prompted, type the Administrator password. If the administrator password is blank, just press ENTER. 5.Enter in the following commands COPY X:i386NTLDR C: COPY X:i386NTDETECT.COM C: [where X=CD ROM Drive] Take out the CD ROM and type exit :google: :welcome: btw |
Re: ntldr missing
run fixmbr from operating system recovery console
ok spose I should instruct Boot from xp cd and let it get to an input screen (it will come up recovery console at the bottom ignore this) you will go through a couple of options and get offered recovery console again. A list of operating systems will come up choose correct 1 then at A: prompt type fixmbr If this does not work go through same procedure instead type bootcfg /rebuild this will search for operating systems and create a new boot ini |

Re: ntldr missing
from my experience this appears to have simply screwed up the boot record on the disk not actually lost the ntldr file.I could be wrong but a lot of the times ive seen this has been the case.Sometimes it is missing or a secorrupt windows install where a repair install is required
