Price Changes - 1st February 2007 - Itemised Billing Charge

One little point that may have gone unnoticed by Telewest Customers is they going to be charged £12 a year for itemised billing.

Could someone tell me if this is a new charge for NTL customers as well.

It would seem to me to be daylight robbery. What are your thoughts.

No - NTL already charge £1 per month for Telephone itemised billing.

Doesn't bother me - I could always ask for non-itemised if it did.

If it was £10 per month, perhaps "daylight robbery" would be appropriate.

Itemised billing is optional so the charge would be too. Hardly robbery as most phone companies charge for fully itemised bills.

wouldn't mind the charge for the itemised billing........but it's useless as it misses of most of the phone calls made, only lists the number of calls over/under a unit cost and not a list of the actual calls

All of my non-itemised calls are non-chargeable calls, so I don't really care which ones they were :D

Thank you for your replies.

Well as I never paid it with Telewest why should I pay it now. Why don't they own up and say it's £12 for line rental.

So next time you are in Tescos or Waitrose (If you are Tory) will they charge you £1 for scanning the items or just look at them and say that's £89.56 please. Maybe not so, so why does the telecom industry do so.

I've solve the problem by switching all my calls to Skype, cancelling my itemised billing and insisting Telewest start sending an old fashion paper bill. So who did it cost this time? Please all do the same. With Skype you can see itemised bill anytime and it's up to date.

Skype seem to be catching up with the other bandits now by introducing connection charges but it is telewest that takes the biscuit with a 9 pence charge just to know the other person is on the line or not answering. Now that's daylight robbery. So that's why all the telecoms companies give free answering service. Nice money.

There alt to be a warning that you are about to be transferred to a answering service. What's wrong with the old fashion number engage signal?

For you 30 something’s (Ant and Deck look a likes) it was a rapid single toned sound. I might suggest the sound of money chinking could be a good warning you are just about to be transfered.

Well i might be wrong but I don't believe Talk Talk charge for this. Not sure if BT do, but they certianly didn't a while ago, plus you can look at all your calls online.

Some mobile companies certianly charge but I'm with 3 and they certianly don't.

It wasn't so bad when NTL showed called over 10p, but now it is calls 50p or over which is pretty useless if you ask me as most calls are likely to (or at least shouldn't) cost that much anyway (other than maybe a premium rate call or one to some 3rd world country)

erm bt charge for itemised bill. you can chose not to have an itemised bill and only have calls over 50p itemised, its not a line rental charge its for the cost of the extra printing. im glad they make people pay for it, if they didnt they would have to raise the line rental cost to pay for it and people like myself who doesnt really care if i get an itemised bill will be paying for it too

with regards to the free voicemail you could hang up before it gets to that, most voicemails kick in after 5 rings, so dial the number if no-one answers hang up.

i don't mind paying for an itemised bill which is what i pay for.............it's ntl's half-baked version that gets my goat.

Well the extra printing does not hold up as I use to have an e-bill via the internet. So I have cancelled itemised bill and insisted on a paper one being sent. I better send some money to a carbon off set company. I agree with you if they did not charge us this way they would find another way.

They alt to let customers who receive it electronically have it free. That would drive the right behavior.

Oh God a whiner. See, you've hit the nail on the head with this post. You can have E-Billing and now you have E-billing, thus saving money each month, saving NTL Money each month, thus saving Paper, Trees, Ink, the whole damn world. Job done. If you want Itemised billing, pay the £ a month, if you don't, don't it's THAT simple.

They don't whan you to know how much you are paying for abortive calls.
10,000,000 or more versus 9pence is a lot of cabbage.

Telewest limit is 20p but what's the betting it is changed to 50p

You are more likely to spot a Tory in Sainsbury's. Waitrose is the Lib Dem shop of choice (well round here at any rate). ;)

Must admit my biggest peeve is the BB faults. It almost feels like your time on the phone is being deliberately lengthened by the (occasionally helpful) tech person at the other end of the line.

You're comparing Apples and Pears. If NTL/Telewest charged line rental, you would have to pay it to use the phone. Itemised bills are optional.

Actually, from an evironmental point of view, I wish the big supermarkets would charge for reciepts. Imagine how many trees would be saved if even a fraction of the customers said no?

Anyhow, the supermarkets *do* charge for scanning. Ok, so they aren't upfront about it, but a fraction of what you pay does go to paying the costs involved in you being in the supermarket (heat, light, staffing etc). This is business.

TBH, Skype aren't always that cheap. Particulalrly if you make a lot of international calls to non-skype customers.
