Keep on getting a Windows Error Sound - Help
You know the Windows XP Critical Stop.wav sound.
It happens seemingly randomly , say, once an hour, nothing shows in Event Manager and i'll be buggered if i can find out whats causing it. Anybody know of any way i can track down what program / device is causing this to happen? |

Got any USB devices that may have power management running on them?

Re: Keep on getting a Windows Error Sound - Help
Forget it - bloody typical - you look for days - Nothing!
Then as soon as you post you find it - it was my NOD32 saying its lost my username and password to access the update server. I didnt actually pop up to tell me this though - just decided to keep it to itself... Im going off to ESET to winge. |

If you're on XP Pro, you could enable file auditing and see what files are being accessed at the time of the error. Bit of a needle/haystack, but might yield something.
Have you tried an HJT analysis? |
