XP 64 Bit

Worth it?

I'm running 32bit XP on a Dual Core E6600 - as its a free upgrade (with no Downgrade path) i was wondering if i should bother?

Im aware some drivers may be hard to find, but can you use 32bit drivers on a 64 bit system?

I thought about it also as we have 10 licences for pro 64bit kicking about at work.

Can you dual boot to test it out without fubaring your 32-bit install?

Might give it a shot and report back. If only I had not left the disc at work :-)

Re: XP 64 Bit

I have an E6700 and I use 64bit, I can't see that much difference, somethings are a lot quicker, but not sure if it's down to XP or not. I can extract a 700mb rar files in 4 seconds flat, yet it can take 25 mins to fix 1 knackered par2 file from a dvd using quickpar.

To me it's good and bad, but not bad enough to say no it's not worth it. Well that's my opinion anyway. Driver's ain't that much of an issue now unless you need logitech or a few other brands.

I would dual boot if I could, but it's a nightmare going from 64bit (default) then adding a 32bit dual boot OS (easy from 32 to 64 though).
