Spybot and AVG

Yesterday I upgraded Spybot to Ver 1.4 and downloaded the latest updates. When I ran it today it took 4 hours rather than the usual 15 minutes! Anyway, I did what I should have done earlier, went to the Spybot Forum and found that this was the hot topic of the day. The problem seems to be a clash with AVG. The recommended solution is to temporarily disable the AVG Resident Shield. Not the most satisfactory of solutions but it seemed to work for me.

Strange - I use AVG free (with latest updates) and Spybot S&D, and have never had any problems.

I think it's all very recent. From the number of posts on the Spybot Forum it seems quite a widespread problem. Have you Ver 1.4 of Spybot with the latest updates? If not, it might well be worth waiting a few days to see if any fixes surface.

Funny this should come up as yesterday I ran SpyBot(ver 1.4) which autoupdates itself and it did take a lot longer than normal. I do have AVG free as well. Will keep an eye out on the SpyBot forums to see if a fix comes out.

AVG through a fit with me yesterday trying to make out I'm a business and should not be installing it on a workstation. Does avg not know people have routers these days?

Go to Post 97 in the appropriate Spybot thread where you will find a link to a beta version of an updated dll file. I've downloaded it and even as I type it seems to be working.
