"Problem with this recording" dialogue box
Having deleted things from my TVDrive, sometimes some of the existing recordings get corrupted, and I get the "There is a problem with this recording" box, with code 2056 and telling you to try rebooting.
Are there any tips on things to try to recover the recording? Or are they basically lost for good? |

I've seen this error yesterday when I sat down to watch Battlestar Galactaca which I recorded on Sky One.
Is this going to be a common occurance? A box fault? A 'feature'? I think if I record something, I want to know I will be able to watch it and not take a gamble if I will actually be able to watch a recording. Anyone else with this problem and as above...any way to recover the recording? |

This is a bug in the current software. I have had it on a few occasions, thankfully not on any recordings that I wanted to watch lol! NTL are aware of it :)

Problem is that if you get this error then you can't actually delete the corrupt recording nor it seems any of the recordings previous to the corrupt one. I have been told that the only way to fix this is to reformat the hard disk. If anyone knows of another way around this let me know! :)

I've had the message once or twice and have been able to delete the problem recording with no probs at all.

I only had this error once on a film I was eager to see, after reboot the recording was perfect and I was able to delete it afterwards.

I had one incident pre-Virgin. Last night produced my 3rd 2056 error in 2 weeks. Apparently it's an error closing the file at the time of recording which makes the file/recording unueable regardless of reboot. VM hope to eradicate it with a software update. Hope they hurry. The box has also starting ignoring 2 series links. Kinda embarrassed as I've been recommending the V+ to friends and now when we have a catch up sesh, we've lost episodes. Tried customer services but couldn't take the muzak after 11 mins - no voice assuring me I hadn't been abandoned while they went for lunch. Shame. i hope it's just teething probs.:confused: I've taken this from another thread on the subject. Search on '2065' to find all.
