Galaxy formation found to follow Darwin’s theory of evolution

What? :Yikes:

Nature versus nurture? Galaxies? Do me a favour..

I wonder if it's just poor journalism or poor science application but this seems ridiculous to me.

Nurture?

nurture noun care, nourishment and encouragement given to a growing child, animal or plant. verb (nurtured, nurturing) 1 to nourish and tend (a growing child, animal or plant). 2 to encourage the development of (a project, idea or feeling, etc). nurtural adj. nurturer noun.
ETYMOLOGY: 14c: from French norriture, from Latin nutrire to nourish.

how the hell does(and who or what by) a galaxy get nurtured?:erm:

To a physicist nature versus nurture means its intial conditions versus the environmental conditions.

What he's saying is they have to work out if the galaxy is the way it is because of how it was started (born) or because of effects others have had on it, such as another coming nearby and warping it with gravity.

Granted nuture implies a desire or care about the outcome, a galaxy does not care. I think he is using the overall phrase for metaphoric effect.

Darwin's Evolution does not apply here because a galaxy does not reproduce.

Then whomever used the words nurture and Darwin's theory of evolution has not done their position a lot of good.I really hope it was the journalist.Mind sometimes in an attempt to explain their case some scientists are in danger of dumbing down too far.:erm:
