oldversion.com

Are the programs on http://www.oldversion.com classed as freeware now or do we still have to pay to use the old versions of the programs?

If they had a copyright / user licence terms, those conditions will still apply until eventually it's that old that legislative protection of the author expires.

Useful though that site is, I would (wild guess style) suspect it's in breach of copyright...

if old versions were free, when released, then imo they should be free, now

- or

is wrong, too ;)

Mmm, at least that site's main page states " last freeware version " I couldn't see the same on 'oldversion'

Nice links though, :tu: to the 2 of you :D

Why do you only have freeware and shareware?
This is not a "warez" site. We are able to legally distribute only freeware and shareware, since they are free.

Yep, as Rob says, if an app wasn't freeware initially (and unless the author has changed the licence subsequently) then any restrictions are still in place. Of course, by licensing the app, you'd be entitled to the latest version rather than an old version, but just because something's been superseded doesn't mean it's now free of charge to use indefinitely.
