ebay for newbs ?

Anyone know of any browser tools / utils that can bid on ebay items in the closing seconds of a bid ?

Or do I have to write one ?

My first ever bid on ebay ending in disaster with be being out bid in the closing seconds of the bid - is this like common ?

Its normal and using an app is cheating! Don't do it :) (I think you'll probably also find its against the rules)

I dont wanna be sitting on my machine watching the auction and my synchronized clock - It sounds pretty lame doesn't it.

What would be nice is a simple popup 5seconds before end of autions that says 'Outbid current bid' : End of story how is that cheating ?

Keep checking your emails then and refresh the page a few times toward the end :) I think the eBay toolbar even reminds you.

LOL Thats what I was doing !

But being hit by 3 bids in 5 seconds as follows :

roshcam( 487Feedback score is 100 to 499) £31.50 18-Dec-06 14:59:53 GMT
jeanlea0( 394Feedback score is 100 to 499) £30.50 18-Dec-06 14:59:49 GMT
memory1trade( 47Feedback score is 10 to 49) £27.01 18-Dec-06 14:59:48 GMT

I was unable to keep up : I seriously was not expecting it was almost in uncorking a bottle of champagne mode. LOL

I guess we live n learn.

Its good to have one tab open with the auction that you refresh and another tab open ready on the bid page so you just click once to bid at the last moment.

snipeing is not illegal btw ;)

At the end of the day you should bid what your prepared to pay. That way if you get out bid you didn't lose out.

I use the 2 page thing also, A bit of vigerous last second bidding normally helps, as does staying up late to catch the late finishing auctions with less bidders.

No worries I'm hooked on ebay now

I'm running a browser on this machine and the machine to my right windows is running the sniper ;) (both are connected via x2vnc and hence no problems with keyboard and mouse)

I've won a few auctions sniping stuff within 3seconds of closing lol

Don't quite see the logic here... by bidding in the last seconds you can stop the price getting poushed up more than you wanted to pay, and still only pay what you are willing.
It's not against eBay's rules, it's not cheating.

And don't you just love that adrenaline rush aswell when you get it in on time:D That's my favourite thing on eBay lol.

In answer to your query, there are lots of sites that do the sniping for you, i used to use one called Snipeville but it disappeared:(
I now use Just Snipe for the times when i know i won't be in to snipe it myself, free registration, free to use, and bids in the last 5 seconds http://www.justsnipe.com/ Only thing is you have a limit to how many you can do within a week.

This one however is meant to be much better but i haven't got around to checking that one out yet http://www.auctionstealer.com/home.cfm

Damn it I'm still ebaying ! Yeh its fun mind u the snipper I got is pretty good too : Set up the the price u wanna snipe.... Walk away from the PC if you cant take the tension or just dont wanna get into a last minute bidding war.

Come back to see if you've won.

Have been wrestling with setting up paypal accounts earlier this evening  (it's not quick is it !)

ps One thing that has helped me is that I joined ebay years ago and that account seems to still work mind u I had a zero rating
