Problem connecting HD-SDI to Sony Bravia
Hi,
I have been using an AJA HDTV converter to get raw HD-SDI from a VBOB to display on an Apple 23" LCD, (BNC cable in, DVI-D out). This works fine but I now want it to display on a Sony Bravia X series. This TV has HDMI inputs and says it can accept 1080P, 1080i etc. The AJA has DVI-D ouput 1080i. I bought DVI-D to HDMI cables from three companies sofar, but still the the TV gives the error "Unsupported Signal. Check your output device." The minute I put the HDMI into the TV it gives the error, even if the AJA has no source video. I only need video as its for client viewing. None of the specialist shops here have a solution except to buy a new AJA HI5 or Blackmagic HDLink which are both expensive. We find it frustrating because the AJA I already have, which works fine with my 23" Apple LCD (DVI to DVI), has DVI-D that should be compatible with HDMI. Surely a simple cable should work, but it doesn't. Any thoughts would be much apreciated. Sincerely Harold Herbert, VFX Artist Athens, Greece |

Re: Problem connecting HD-SDI to Sony Bravia
I will try them as well thanks.
A friend believes it may be a DHCP issue. I hope not. I would be very surprised that a 1080i DVI-D output from a one year old 500 dollar AJA HDTV converter would be non-compliant. Maybe its the DVI-D to HDMI cable? I presume the Blackmagic HDLink and modern AJA HI5 MUST be OK? Harold |
