now got 2 email addresses
Hi just upgraded to 10 meg. Got given modem and install DVD. When installing it asked me if I had dial up and wanted to keep my old email address. I haven't so I said no. Then it asked me to choose an email address. It wouldn't let me use the one I have already as it's already in use(by me!)
I've probably just read something wrong on the install. However I am concerned that my old email address that I rather like will be deleted or something. If they are both active I guess I can use one for signing up to likely spam merchants and t'other for my mates. Can anyone help? |
Re: now got 2 email addresses
I've still got an ntl email running from my days on dial up. On that basis the chances of an email addy dying is remote, if you are regularly cheching it.
It's rare you need the install DVD unless you need the USB drivers and if you have 10meg, you really should be using ethernet ;) |
Re: now got 2 email addresses
I guess you're an old stb bb customer in which case your email address should be perfectly safe. The system works in a funny way in that it can migrate dial-up email addresses onto a cable modem account but not stb bb ones !!

Re: now got 2 email addresses
cool thanks guys. I think it needed the DVD to register the modem. 2 emails are better than one I guess :)

Re: now got 2 email addresses
can't you just go and delete the alias for said mailbox, like you can for blueyonder :/
..which die, if they're not checked in (I think) 30 days |
Re: now got 2 email addresses
possibly, but I'm not sure how. To be honest I'm not fussed about having 2. My main concern would be my old one would die. As this is the one all my friends/contacts have. Out of interest how would one go about doing this Alias thingymebob of which you speak?
