ntl netguard and laptops
 

Not to sure if this in the right place but anyway i have just purchased a laptop for the little man this christmas and i would like to install ntl netguard onto the laptop. I have netguard on the desktop pc in the house and connect the laptop via wireless router but when i download netguard it will not operate on the laptop. I have now installed avast anti virus the free version and zone alarm firewall but realy wanted ntl netguard for the parental control so any ideas people or is there a nice free parental control you know of out there ?

Paul hi. I am with NTL too. Have you tried going to the ntlworld.com homepage..and clicking on the Netguard Link and downloading it from there on to your Laptop. It should work I think. or have you already tried that.

If so how about putting your ntl software disk in to the laptop and try to download it from there. Do either o these options work.

I haven't actually used it..I am with Avast etc. but can see your need re the children. Let me know if either works...

What do you mean by you can't operate netguard, will it not install? How many computers in your house already use ntl netguard?

yes i can download and install it to the laptop but when i open ntl netguard it refuses to work ?

it does work on laptops, but does get fussy when used away from the ntl network sometimes. It also gets fussy when connecting via wireless, but seems to sort itself out eventually. (it may help to disable the wired Ethernet port if you have both).

One other thing I've noticed is that it needs to be installed and validated under each username that is going to be used on - while connected to the ntl network, before attempting to use off of it.

I've also not noticed a problem with no of times you can install - I've probably installed a dozen times sometimes more than once on a computer due to dual boot/ os reinstall - no more than 5 machines simultaneously though I'm sure!
