Anonymous Caller Rejection
I have ACR activated on my NTL pnone. I have been told by a number of people that they are now unable to call my phone line. This is normally companies calling from switchboards but on a couple of occasions from private lines. Would that be because they are registered ex - directory or something else. If so how can I keep ACR but still recieve all the calls from private phones?

Re: Anonymous Caller Rejection
If they call you it does not automaticaly reject the call. It plays them a message stating that their number is being withheld and that they should dial a number 1st (is it 141) to get through to you.

Re: Anonymous Caller Rejection
Unfortunately, you cannot. The only way these numbers can call you is if they present their number (1470) on a private line but not possible on a switchboard.

Re: Anonymous Caller Rejection
 141 hides your number doesn't it?

Re: Anonymous Caller Rejection
The private callers must be witholding their number (nothing to do with being ex-directory). Tell them to prefix your number with 1470.
1470 = release calling number 141 = withold calling number But this doesn't work on a switchboard and there is no way round it. All you can do is tell them to get their switchboard sorted. There's no excuse for this these days. |
