NTL crossline

About a week ago an NTL technician had to come round and fix a fault on my phoneline. When someone rang, it only rang once and then it cut them off completely. So my phone would ring once and I'd have to dial 1471 to call them back. Anyway, dont know what the problem was but the NTL bloke fixed it very quickly. But since then, the phone line has been very fuzzy. I've tried ringing NTL a few times but there always seems to a huge queue. Today, my phone has rang twice in the last 30 minutes or so, both times I have answered it, some one on the otherside has said back 'hello emergency services, which service do you require?' etc. One was the 999 helpline, and the other was 112. Whats going on?

Tried to ring NTL again but after waiting 27 minutes, i got fed up. Dont see why I should have to fork out 5p a minute to get something that isnt my fault sorted.

Not going to answer the phone now for the rest of the day.

Has this happened to anyone else? Will it go away on its own?

Oh, forgot to mention aswell. After the calls, i press 1471 and there is no record of them being there!
And, about 4 and 5 nights ago, the phone rang twice one night, then once another night, but as you answered, there was no one there. Again you pressed 1471 and there was no recollection of the call.

999 & 112 are both emergency numbers and it seems that whatever the fault is with your phone there is a need to get it fixed otherwise you could find a whole lot of fire and police outside your house as abandoned calls are treated as serious.

First, fault reporting is free (just dial 151).

Second, as said earlier, you could end up with a hefty bill if the emergency services are called out.

Also, bear in mind that while it *is* up to NTL to fix it, they may not be aware there is a problem. If they aren't aware there is a problem, they definately will not fix it.

There would not normally be a charge but it could delay any other attendance to a real incident particularly in the outskirts of town. There would also be strong words as to why the fault had not been reported.

well, after just over an hour of waiting in the queue - it disconnected! So as you can imagine, I'm not very happy.

Are there any other numbers that we know of that I can try?? Is it worth emailing them?
