NTL wireless issue
Hi, I am switching from ADSL to NTL cable for broadband internet. I currently am using a Linksys HG200 ADSL modem/wireless router all-in-one. Do you know if I can use this with the NTL cable box?

Re: NTL wireless issue
:welcome: you wont be able to use an ADSL modem on a CABLE network. You would have to use the supplied NTL modem and then connect a router to it.
heres what you could do (dont know if you can with the linksys but think you can) you can either use the modem as a kind of Access Point or sell it and get a proper router. |
Re: NTL wireless issue
Poppy,
:welcome: to CF Short answer is no :( You need a wireless cable router to work with NTL, such as the Linksys WRT54GS (about £40/50). The wireless adapter in your PC/laptop will still work with the new router but NTL cable and ADSL are different technologies. HTH |
Re: NTL wireless issue
Thanks for the help guys.
I've bought this Netgear WGR614uk wireless cable router which has some good reviews and should hopefully work with the NTL cable box. |
Re: NTL wireless issue
smart buy Poppy :)
little advice, if you got a normal modem from NTL just switch it off for 5 mins connect the router and switch on again. normally you'll be connected to the net after that. |
