hmm, where does this other box come from? Only ntl:telewest can supply valid STBs and the subscriptions for them. As you will know as a long standing user of Cable Forum, we don't tolerate any discussion of means of bypassing connection without subscription.

If you want a second STB, then contact the cableco, and pay them for it. They'll be happy to install it for you.

Slightly OT but what if I had a box from a previous address that NTL didn't come to collect after cancellation of contract, lets say, ( hypothetically of course ) 6- 12 months after cancellation and numerous phone calls it still wasn't collected, would the responsibility be mine to return it ??

Yes to a point. Using it would still be a no no as far as NTL are concerned but you have to at least try and get it back to them and store it for a reasonable length of time before throwing it in the bin.

Hence the number of boxes on Ebay :( NTL could save sooooo much money if they just pulled their fingers out and sorted out niggly little things like this.

I suppose the same could be said for a lot of big companies, it takes the little guy to see the BIG waste :(

True. I don't know the cost of a replacement STB, but I bet they could save a *lot* of money if the even just sent out a stamped, self addressed box for people to put their boxes in and post them.
