Wifi access point

Hello all - can anyone recomend a good wifi access point for me

my current setup is this:

upstairs we have 1 ntl modem connected to a dlink router

dlink router has 2 pc's upstairs connected to it + 1 wire goes down stairs to a face plate and my xbox plugs into that.

my router upstairs currently provides me with my wifi access on my laptop

i need a device that:
1. can plug into my face plate and connect it via a wire to my router to provide wireless access downstairs.
2.has a network port on it that can act as a hub so i can plug wired devices into it (eg my xbox)
3. wifi device should support wpa (wpa2 if possible) and be pretty small :)

any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Your Dlink router already supplies wifi to your laptop? If so, why can that wireless not also do your downstairs stuff too?

it can and does but its not the most powerful signal in the world - a lot of walls etc in the way.

You may well encounter problems if you try a second WAP on the same network, even if they transmit over separate channels. I can see the potential for all sorts of weird conflicts when your computer's can't quite work out which unit to connect to.

Some WAPS can be set up in a network range extender mode. That might be your better option.

You might get a better aerial or use a short piece of cable to mount it in a better place. Try here:
