cannot connect second laptop to internet
i have one desktop pc and 2 laptops - the old laptop works fine connected to internet via BELKIN wireless router - the new laptop can see the Belkin on the wireless network but when I try to connect it just hovers on acquiring IP address and then comes back saying it cannot connect .....
I'm struck I cant check the WEP key orginally setup when the router was set up whether its right or not - but there is no message to that effect If I reset the router by pressing the reset button at the back ... will this a) allow me to enter new WEP key ???? b) will I lose my desktop PC internet ???? If possible I dont want to lose internet on PC and 1st laptop which is already working Is there any other way of connecting this second laptop to the internet ???? Please help !!!!!! |
Re: cannot connect second laptop to internet
Can you try to connect with an internet cable (not usb)?
And welcome to the forum! |
Re: cannot connect second laptop to internet
if you have wep enabled but dont know the key then this will certainly cause the othetr laptop not to connect, are you able to log intothe router? you should be able to verify wep and should be able to change password from there

Re: cannot connect second laptop to internet
i think i may have similar issues as sometimes my pc plays what looks like the same game. i get around by rebooting and as its restarting unplugging the router and modem leaving for 20 secs or so, the plugging router back in first then modem.
ps. mind you i dont know what wep is so could be talking out of my petite behind |
