IR Remote Extender

I have my TV drive in a cabinet to keep it away from prying eyes, only downside is in order to change channels I have to leave the pull-down door open as there is no glass.

Does anyone know of a way I can run an extender outside of the cabinet to enable me to change channels? I purchased one from Maplins (http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=46524) but it doesn't seem to work.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I'm sucessfully using a Marmitek StereoControl infrared receiver to do just what you want. Certainly not the most advanced bit of kit, it's powered by a 9v battery, and sends the signal along 2 wires to 2 sensors you stick onto the receiving devices, but it works really well.

See here for the sort of thing:

Top man, that's exactly what I was looking for!

I have been using a old wireless video sender to transmit the IR signal but it is causing interference on the Plasma - this should do the trick though.

I noticed there is a slightly more expensive one (http://reallycleverhomes.co.uk/acata...ntrol_set.html) which can be mains powered. Do you know if there is any other differences? Doesn't look as though there are.

Thanks again.

The Marmitek Invisible control 4 is the best looking device made to date

http://www.buyme.co.uk/marmitek-invi...4-devices.html you can choose either mains or battery power which means it is perfect for everyone. There is a video on the product page so you can get a good look.

They do a invisible control 6 and Invisible control 8 if you have loads of devices.
