Contract Help!
Well to put things in to context i was with AOL for a year on 2mb connection.
Then recently moved to upto 8mb I was getting about 5mb so was happy until recently my bt line has been downgraded? and all i can receive is 512kb. I contacted AOL and said that they can only downgrade me to a 1mb package. I stated that i wanted to cancel and they said it is not possible! I want to move to cable as i have heard it is hard to get BT to do anything about my problem. Please help me battle it out on the phone with AOL. Help me state law and get things moving. |

I don't know the specifics of the AOL contract, but is there a minimum term, say 12 months, and have you been with them that long. If so you should be able to leave having simply given notice. Alternatively, is there anything in your contract about being able to terminate the contract if AOL cannot supply the service you ordered, i.e. up to 8MB? |

Try calling BT and reporting a line fault?

Re: Contract Help!
Have they tied you into a new contract for your upgrade to 8Mb? I wouldn't have thought they have as most companies wouldn't - however I would certainly check any paper work you received when you upgraded to 8Mb. If you were on 2Mb previously for a year then that really speaking should be your contract over and done with - a mobile phone provider or anyone else for that matter wouldn't tie you in to a new 12 month contract for going up to a higher plan/tariff, doesn't seem right.

I dont think you should be telling people that they should settle for 512kb when they should be getting upto 8mb. Remember it has to be upto 8mb but no lower than the next package down. Thank you AOL |
