Price Changes from 1st February 2007

Some Telewest people aren't going to be too happy that's all I'll say. Some of the price rises for Starter Pack customers are a bit steep to say the least, although they will only increase the price by half for the first 12 months!

There will be a £5 surcharge for those people who don't pay by Direct Debit which I think is appalling!

There is a brand new bundle for sports fans, the Setanta Sports Bundle
(includes Setanta 1 & 2*, Celtic TV, Rangers TV, NASN and Racing UK) for £15 a month!

This is all part of the plan to bring parity between the two companies packages. There are package name changes as well with TV and Broadband packages changing to M, L & XL branding. In terms of the channels available this sounds as though it's going to be a very slow process to maintain the quality of their packages. Which I think means not all channels are going to make it through merger of services!

Telephone prices aren't coming down till May now... :(

Interesting info...
  • The TVDrive is going to rebranded V+ from 1st February. How original lol!
  • V+ will be available on the NTL network nationally from 1st February
  • NTL customers will not be required to take a phone line with their Digital TV package from the 1st February, although you will pay extra
  • Broadband Plus becomes Broadband extras from 1st February**
*Not current available on NTL
**NTL only

Good update - thanks.

My group of services go up by £1.01 - I can live with that.

Yeah same for me on NTL. £3.01 on TW because of the steep rise in the TV packages :)

I'm confused by the naming of the Digital TV packages. Surely the Starter Pack should have been M and Free Pack should have kept it's name, because sure the Starter Pack is larger in size than the Free TV one? Just my thoughts on the matter anyway :)

I'll have to look at my bill todouble check what package I'm on but it doesn't look like it going to increase much for me

Possibly to cover potential future changes?

I would imagine the packages are called M/medium because they don't want to brand anything as small.

I also wonder if not including the starter/select pack in the new branding is a hint that it will not be advertised to new customers...

Mobile Call Plan

It appears more expensive to phone a Virgin Mobile than any other network. I have edit the 500 word report on this.
Summary - why?

Re-naming

What dress size are you. Never XL. Supersize names now have a negative preception.
Nor do they describe the product well as they are too generic.

This is only a price list, but an important one and I'm struck by the lack of vision.
