Avast Problems
 
Hi people, im using Avast 4.7 Home Edition, and i cant start it to do an A/V Scan for some reason. No splash screen.... nothing, dont even get the contol Panel up initiate a scan.

obviously you have uninstalled cleaned up and reinstalled havent you so next step would be try AVG ;)

Give this a go:

It will only work if you have Avast installed in the default directory:

Open Notepad, copy and paste the following text (in bold) into the new Notepad window.
Save it to your Desktop,

save as file type all files
save as avastrun.bat
Code:

@echo off
cd C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4
ashAvast.exe
CLS
Exit

Now double click this file on your desktop.
This should start the avast GUI

Yeah i uninstalled Avast, re installed it, removed items from Registry, after un install, you name it, ive done it. Now using AVG though.

Did you try installing it to a different location?
