Resolutions

What a resolution is best to choose, 720 or 1080? are there any movies or programmes in 1080?

This is a bit of an odd one and I have no doubt you'll hear many opinions. As far as I know there is not much 1080 programming (if any) yet and any 720 stuff you watch at 1080 will be "scaled up" which is akin to stretching it so it might not look as good? I'm not 100% sure on the technology front here but I think it comes down to that?
