Cnat get broadband and tv working at same time

Ive just got broadband installed today and manage to get the account set up and got an internet connetion.

Ive also got a STB that I get my TV channels from. The problem that I've got is that I can only watch tv or surf the internet and not them both at the same time.

The TV is only working when it is connected to the same socket where the engineer installed the co axil for the cable modem. If the tv coaxil is pluged into the other socket the tv stays blank and the ntl STB just searchs for channels.

Is there a solution possible without calling out an engineer

Were they both working when the eng left?

If you are referring to the two outlets on a single wallplate - the other outlet is for FM connections only and will not run an STB or cable modem.

If you have two wallplates, then either one has a faulty isolator or it's not been connected up to the splitter correctly.

Either way, if this wasn't working when the engineer left, it is a failed install - call NTL and make sure you tell them that the installer left you with a non working setup!

Not always... but mostly.

If only one of the 2 outlet points is working,, then sure most likley then one of them is an FM isolater.

If however you can only use 1 device at a time but from either wall socket this isnt the case... still a call to Technical Support / Faults is prolly the only way to sort this.

Dial 151 from an NTL phone to sort it out.
