Actiontec 54mbps wireless cable/dsl router
 

I have just purchased one of the above from the NTL website, how the heck do you secure the network???

Please let me know in simpleton terms as not that clued up on computers/wireless!

:welcome: there should be a manual come with it gives you an ip address for the router and a username and password (192.168.*.* format ip) enter this into a web browser and log into router then simply search through the settings till you find wireless and security and select wpa and apply a password.then simply connect using any wireless devices using password you chose :)

thats the problem, it only came with a one page quick start guide, which tells u how to install the router only, even thats not brilliant

well got start then run and type cmd then ok
type in the black box ipconfig /all and hit enter
the gateway ip is the router so open ie and type this address
I think the user is admin and password is admin on actiontec but ive only had a dsl one
then just look around it should be obvious
