Windows vista

Is anyone using the windows vista o/s yet ??? Im just wondering if telewests broadband installation cd will run on it , and if not do they have one in the pipeline ??
I know the o/s is still a beta , and rc1 and 2 are out . It has just been released to rtm,s so itl be available to all new pc builds from now on.
Any help is appreciated , thanks.

Re: Windows vista

Why do you need to run the Broadband installer at all?

Re: Windows vista

Unless you are using a USB connection, there is no need to run any of the installation CDs, just ensure your network settings are set to pikc up the IP and DNS automatically and when connected to your modem that should get you on the internet.

If you are using USB, the question has to be why. A PC capable of running vista should have a network card and that is much more functional than USB.

:D I'm using Vista RC1 public and RC2 releases, and both work perfectly fine on Telewest;) And as stated above, no need for CD;)

That may well be down to the shoddy way that XP implemented QoS?

Re: Windows vista

LOL But ya it activates :p

Re: Windows vista

Is that the activates until June, when all unreleased keys will de-activate?
Everybody can activate a copy of Vista RTM with a Vista RC1 and 2 Key, but it will not stay active ;)

Re: Windows vista

There'll be some method of making it stay active by then :D

Re: Windows vista

There already is :D
Problem is, after June you will not be able to get updates or Ulimate extras. Get freindly with some MS top dogs, and you get fully legal Vista for nawt :D I made a few contacts with a m8 who delt with Mr BIG himself at QE2 conference . Not only did he arrange to get Vista for nawt, but he got base units ordered with it Pre-installed :tu: :tu: :tu: Walked out of there with XP discs, Visual studio Pro 2005, Server 2003 and a stack of other MS goodies . Guess it's just a case of who ya know :D
